Age Careers Expo

Magic Pencilbookfeaturing Hilary Duff

What a great exhibition! I got there at 11:30 and I thought it was going to be really empty because everyone would be at school but as soon as I walked through the gates I was overwhelmed with the number of kids in school uniform just walking around.

I went to the YFU stall and introduced myself to the people there whom I had never met before. There was Julian, a German guy working to promote YFU and two girls who were in Melbourne as exchange students. One from Brazil, the other from Belgium (sorry, forgot you guys' names), haha, you should've seen the school boys trying to pick up the Brazilian girl, it was really naeuseating.

Apart from that I really enjoyed it. I had never really known what I wanted to do after school and then I encoutered two really big passions I realised I had. International relations/ communication and design. There's an international college in Japan and they had a stall up on second level, um 'Renzeikan'?? can't remember and then Grenadi School of Design, this super selective school, or at least that's its image but it gives me some kind of push and as soon as the guy finished talking to me about it I knew that That was the school I wanted to aim for. Not Melbourne U, or Monash, RMIT, Swinburne, nup, none of that. Grenadi School of Design's for me!

Alright then, well I'd better start working on compiling a more recent portfolio. *rolls up sleeves*

I finished at 5 and got to Glen at 6:15. I was already running late for youth group but I needed dinner so I went over to Hungry Jacks and grabbed a Whopper, made some phone calls while munching and met up with Vicky back at the station. My bag weighed a tonne from all the advertising material I had in my bag from the expo so I requested to catch the 889 bus instead of having to walk. Well, we got to Crossway late but it was alright, I did get some strange stares from people, probably 'caus I was wearing a shirt to youth group and carrying a bag that looked like it weighed a tonne but it was all good. So I got a new layout, because it looked to much like Joyce's and I felt like doing something artistic anyway so enjoy the new banner, made by me.

We got home and switched on the news. Creepy what I saw next: "Army recruiting staff had to intervene in a fight in which two school students were stabbed and another assaulted at a careers expo today." Yeah, and that was like right outside and I didn't hear anything about it.

How could I forget

Misty Grass
by carlylecastle

How could I forget? Last night I had a dream that I was back in Japan for a honeymoon trip. We had joined a tour group and we were running around on a misty green hill, far from civilisation. It was all very serene and you could feel the peace.
In the distance I hear some cheers so I ventured through the fog and in the distance I saw a soccer game between two high schools. "Hang on a second," I thought to myself, "is that Kentaro?" (one of my classmates). I walk further and realise that it is indeed Shiroishi High versing some other school. I'm now close enough for them to see me as well and I wave. No one seems to have noticed me so disheartened, I make my way back up along the hill to my tour group. I sit down by myself when three guys with super long hair approach me.

"Oi, Tim." One of them says and I can't believe my eyes, it's Takatoshi with super long hair!

I smile and laugh, "Is that the new style in Japan now huh?" as I greet the other two guys Taishi and Junki (who has grown tall).

Bizzare dream -.-

But I woke up just after this realising that I had not thought of these guys for ages. It was scary, to think that these people, who I spent a year with were fading from my memory. I guess you could say like sand through unsteady fingers. On the other hand I realise that I don't really miss them either, is this normal for an exchange student?

And don't forget that The Age Careers Expo is on tomorrow till Sunday at Caulfield Racecourse.

Happy Days 9/4/08

and just on another note

Why am I typing this blog? It's an experiment by me, see how well I can cope with translating all my thoughts into Japanese which is why I will do my best to provide a Japanese version of each entry.

AFRO STAR by Hibiki-tris

City, city CITY?!

... and that was my reaction when I got told by Lauren last night that we'd be having a picnic... in the city. Does anyone else find the city quite draining and boring. I went just on Monday with Phil and Chris so it's quite funny that I should find myself here again with the gang which includes: me, Phil, Chris, Lauren, Lilly, Adam and guess who, Victor.
We had our 'picnic' at an empty Sidney Myer Music Bowl and played the idiots on stage running around like complete lunatics fresh out of the mental institution. During the corporate lunchbreak we even had a bit of an audience watching Lauren and Lilly exchanged wedding vows several times, sing opera and recreate Step Up 2... and then there was this big chase where Adam took both Lauren and Lilly's thongs and ran off onto the lawn where the sprinklers were on. As for Victor, he slept the whole way through.
Happy birthday to Chris's mum, Chris came late today 'caus he went to shark fin to celebrate his mum's birthday. We waited for him at Trampoline, Southgate and got gelato in the process.
We eventually went home one by one, Phil, Chris and I staying in the city, trying to find a farewell present for Victor because he's leaving to Somewhere, we couldn't find anything so we sat down and talked at a shopping arcade I've never been to called Galleria. By the time we finished up it was already 5 so we made our way to Flinders only to get swept up in the wave of stinky, fat businesspeople filing through the ticket barriers. I said, "Stuff this." and went to Melbourne Uni to meet up with mum instead of going home. Dad's coming home from Sydney tonight so I'm typing this on the uni computer while we wait to go pick him up from Tulla. I admit not much of a blog post. I'll post some photos up tomorrow when I'm back at home.

who's up for a 100 buck musical at Regent?? I am!
